Creative Spark
Many have enjoyed the TED organization’s interesting and entertaining videos about Technology, Entertainment, and Design. The world has enjoyed TED’s “ideas worth sharing” concept so much, that independent groups all over the world are taking he TED model and making it their own.
The TEDXOrlando group recently put on their second annual conference. The event revolved around the concept of the Creative Spark. Many people came from out of town and out of the state to collaborate. Their professions ranged from full time graphics designers to environment lawyers that paints in his spare time. The connecting factor- between a local environment lawyer who pants as a hobby and a full time graphic designer from Texas - was their value for creativity.
Some of the presenters were local entrepreneurs who founded some of our favorite spots in town, like Urban ReThink and Downtown CREDO. Others traveled from other states and countries such as Cesar Harda- who has spoken at TEDx events all over the world.
Here is a list of the presenters and the thoughts they ignited in us:
Andrew McGregor, Founder of the Tizano Project - Bringing technology into unlikely places can be the catalyst for empowerment and change.
Wendy Suzuki, Award-Winning Neuroscienist and Faculty Member at NYC - There is also a neurological process to creativity, and finding the balance between and play can unlock new understanding of creative nature.
Bert Roper, Philanthropist and Innovator- The only people that we can control are ourselves.
Cesar Harada, Coordinator for Protei- Our ideas and creations should support our communities, not hurt them. The human element should be the priority in innovation.
Cassandra Willard, Entertainment Lawyer and Faculty Member at Full Sail University- Embracing fearless creativity and listening to our inner inspirations can lead to unexpected roads, opportunity, and success.
Darren McDaniel, Founder of Urban ReThink and Faculty Member at Full Sail University- The social arenas we engage in foster our inspirations and ideas.
Daniel Karslake, Filmmaker- It is never to late to take action on your ideas.
Julie Young, CEO of Florida Virtual School- It is important for the growth and development of people ideas, and business to harness the ability of sparking creativity in others.
Jessi Arrington, Designer- It is important to form a process to harness creativity as a unique productive force.
Can’t wait until next years conference can you? We certainly can’t, but truth is - no one has to!
The TEDXOrlandoSalon meetings are a lot like the Creative Spark Conference, but on a more intimate scale. The next meet up is tomorrow (Nov. 10) at Taste in College Park. If you can’t make it out. Check TEDXOrlando’s website for their next date.
Here are two thoughts worth sharing. We hope they give you the spark you need this week!
“The internet can be like water. It can create wealth where ever it reaches.”
-Andrew Mcgregor
“The next time you feel that tap on your shoulder and whisper in your ear. Just listen. Others have turned their muses message into something beautiful.”
