BANNED BOOKS WEEK
(SEPTEMBER 25 - OCTOBER 2)Four posters from last year’s Banned Books Week presented by Schlow Centre Region Library
Wait, LOTR was banned for being Satanic? That doesn’t even make sense. Obviously no book banning makes sense, but that one is fucking absurd. There’s no deity structure whatsoever in Middle-earth. How could it promote devil worship if there are no alternate deities to promote, period?
Also, Tolkien was a Catholic. And was instrumental in the CS Lewis’ conversion from Atheism to Christianity. So. Someone didn’t do their research.
All of this is so true and also: Where The Wild Things Are is “too scary”? I was the biggest scaredy cat of a kid and it was my favorite book! People are crazy.
These masterpieces of literature are being banned for reasons that are ridiculous, and yet some schools are making Twilight required reading.
Stupidest reasons ever for banning good books. And I’m glad I’m not in school anymore cuz if a school I went to banned these books yet made Twilight required reading, I’d expel my damn self!
Books are friends. At times I even believe them to be just as misunderstood as the people who love them.
…banning books. This is the dumbest thing I have ever heard of.
